Crain’s Chicago Business: Innovation is also Chicago’s game

On a night when everyone in Chicago seemed focused on baseball, the business community found time to cheer on innovation.

“I don’t know if you know it or not, but there’s a big event at about 7:08 p.m.,” Mayor Rahm Emanuel told the crowd at Harris Theater.

From startups, such as Page Vault, to some of the oldest names in business, such as Federal Signal, 24 companies won Chicago Innovation Awards. Among the presenters was Ed Wehmer, CEO of Wintrust Financial, a major Cubs sponsor….
