Nourishing Hope

The 48-year-old Lakeview Pantry’s new 7,500-square-foot space with large storefront windows and colorful, bright interiors reinforces the Pantry’s mission to feed the hungry and remain a stabilizing force on the North Side. And, says Chief Executive Kellie O’Connell, it “also brings dignity to those who suffer the shame of poverty. If the Pantry can give a client a brief reprieve from ‘feeling poor,’ it has accomplished so much more than feeding a hungry mouth. It has provided that client with the hope necessary to move forward, to keep working towards a better life.”
