Blue Sky Innovation: Chicago Innovation Awards honors more diverse roster at annual event

by | Nov 1, 2016

The Chicago Innovation Awards gave more awards to women-led businesses at its annual awards event Tuesday and added a category to acknowledge movements in neighborhoods that are sometimes left behind.

Some 1,200 attendees were at the Harris Theater for the event Tuesday, despite competition from the Cubs playing in game one of the World Series.

Presenters including Mayor Rahm Emanuel mentioned the Cubs, and by the end, at least half the audience had left. Following the game was difficult as internet reception is poor in the theater, a fact Emanuel also noted — citing his experiences with trying to go online during ballet performances at the venue.
