Office buildings, schools and other places where people gather in the U.S. are grappling with decisions about whether to open and how broadly to do so, as cases of COVID-19 continue rising in parts of the country. To help address this, Abbott developed a rapid antigen test, the BinaxNOW™ COVID-19 Ag Card, a reliable, affordable and portable rapid antigen test. BinaxNOW is the size of a credit card, requires no instrumentation, and delivers results in 15 minutes using proven lateral flow technology. The test pairs with an optional app called NAVICA™ that works like a secure mobile boarding pass, which can be scanned to facilitate easier entry into organizations and facilities. Abbott designed BinaxNOW and its complementary NAVICA app to work together to enable mass testing, which reduces the risk of this virus from spreading out of control. Combined, they can help improve the safety of places where people gather in large numbers – such as schools and workplaces – along with social distancing, enhanced cleaning, hand-washing and mask-wearing.
