United Way of Metro Chicago
211 Metro Chicago (2024)
Launched in January 2023, 211 Metro Chicago has made more than 250,000 connections across its helplines to essential community needs and social service support for Chicago and suburban Cook County residents. 211 Metro Chicago is operated by United Way of Metro Chicago in partnership with the City of Chicago and Cook County and with support from generous philanthropic partners. The free, 24/7 helpline is a shining example of the good we can do when we unite government, philanthropy, and social service organizations to solve real community problems. 211 Metro Chicago connects real people with critical services such as housing and financial support and highlights our region’s pressing needs through actionable data to help tackle these challenges. Thanks to the strength of the partnership, the service continues to expand its reach to hundreds of thousands of neighbors in need. Chicago Community COVID-19 Response Fund (2020)
The Chicago Community COVID-19 Response Fund was launched by The Chicago Community Trust and United Way of Metro Chicago in collaboration with the City of Chicago. The Fund was created to unite the funds raised by the Chicago region’s philanthropic community to support local nonprofit organizations providing essential resources to the neighborhoods and populations hardest hit during the pandemic. Through the generosity of a coalition of public and private sector funders, including foundations, businesses, Chicago’s sports teams and more than 5,000 individual donors, the funds raised more than $35 million to aid coordinated community response efforts, including food and supply access, cash assistance, mental health services and broadband internet access.
