CMC Materials’ Research Analytical team developed a method to detect and accurately quantitate nanometer sized particles in our incoming particle raw material. The measurement method innovation allowed CMC to work with the particle supplier to minimize incoming raw material variation that wasn’t possible before. This innovation has spurred several other initiatives by our global Engineering teams to implement product improvements and has assisted our suppliers in improving their product quality and operational efficiencies. In addition, this learning allowed for a Slurry Product Design Rule to be developed and adopted for future product development projects to enable our customer’s evolving technical design requirements.
