Winner of the 2020 Accenture Corporate Innovator Award. As COVID-19 introduced the world to social distancing, the impact on workplace capacity became an immediate challenge for companies and facility teams. As part of a holistic response to address this urgent need, the Gensler Chicago analytics team developed ReRun: a tool enabling the rapid visualization of social distancing scenarios on a workplace floorplan. Since its launch in April 2020, Gensler designers have used ReRun on more than 10 million sq. ft. of office space, empowering companies to apply expert-recommended guidelines and understand their physical implications on the workplace. ReRun was developed, seemingly overnight, by next-gen talent in a nimble response to an emerging set of market demands. This level of flexibility and innovative spirit remain central to the evolution of the tools Gensler creates and utilizes as its designers support client needs across a broad variety of space types—dynamically shaping the future of the built environment for years to come.
