Lincoln Park Zoo

As the nation’s only privately-managed free zoo, the Lincoln Park Zoo now also boasts the most state-of-the-art lion habitat in the U.S., the Pepper Family Wildlife Center.  Employing significant advancements in animal welfare science, the Lincoln Park Zoo reimagined and renovated the habitat for African lions by analyzing years of lion behavior and space use data.  The result is a dynamic new habitat for a pride of lions, with thermal comfort zones, multiple micro-climates, ziplines for lions to chase their food and so much more that has set a new standard for zoos across the country.
