The Equal Opportunity Book Box

Two out of every three kids from low-income families own zero books, and lower-income neighborhoods only have one for every 300 kids.  Meanwhile, very few children’s books feature diverse characters of color, LGBTQ+ orientation, or with disabilities. The Equal Opportunity Book Box is a subscription service that sends 3 children’s books to subscribers every month featuring underrepresented characters.  And for every book they sell, they donate one book to an underserved child in Chicagoland.
